For Kızılay or AŞTİ, start by comparing EGO bus 442 with AnkaraAir. EGO lists a 150 TL airport-route fare; AnkaraAir lists 250 TL one way. The useful comparison is the next departure and the stop nearest your destination, followed by the remaining walk or local ride.

Esenboğa is Ankara’s ESB airport. Save your hotel’s full address before leaving arrivals: “Ankara city centre” is not a single drop-off point. EGO’s airport transport guide

Bus 442: Kızılay and AŞTİ, with a separate airport fare

The official route is AŞTİ–15 Temmuz Kızılay Milli İrade Meydanı–Havalimanı. At the airport, look for the city-bound 442 and confirm your intended stop before boarding. AŞTİ is the intercity bus terminal; choose it when it matches your onward coach ticket, rather than treating it as the default stop for every central hotel. 442 route and departures

The EGO tariff effective 23 August 2026 sets the 442 fare at 150 TL and says there is no student tariff on this route. The ordinary 40 TL city fare elsewhere on that page does not apply to this airport journey. Confirm the payment method and any applicable card charge before boarding; the published 442 entry does not separately spell out every payment method.

For two passengers paying the listed route fare, the airport-bus portion is 300 TL; for four it is 600 TL. These are calculations from 150 TL per person, before any payment-related charge or onward transport. Compare that total with a car quote for the same final address, not with a per-person bus price.

Read the night timetable in the right direction

EGO’s 442 table mixes departures from both ends. HAVAALANI NDAN HAREKET SAATİ means departure from the airport; AŞTİDEN HAREKET SAATİ means departure from AŞTİ. The weekday, Saturday and Sunday columns checked on 3 October 2026 all show these early airport departures:

Departure from ESBGap to the next listed airport departure
00:011 hour 59 minutes
02:002 hours
04:002 hours 20 minutes, to 06:20

That gap matters more than a generic description such as “frequent airport bus”. A flight landing at 01:50 does not establish that you can catch 02:00: allow for arrival formalities, baggage and the walk to the stop. Reopen the current timetable for your travel day; EGO applies the Saturday schedule on religious and public holidays.

AnkaraAir: an open ticket, with airport departures based on demand

AnkaraAir lists 250 TL per passenger, including VAT. Its FAQ says the ticket is valid for 72 hours from purchase, rather than a specific departure. Buying online and buying from airport-platform staff have the same listed fare. AnkaraAir ticket rules

The airport boarding points are outside the domestic and international arrivals exits. The operator lists AŞTİ as the airport service’s destination and an indicative 60-minute journey. Airport departures respond to passenger demand, with staff present around the clock; this is not a promise of a bus at a fixed interval. Ask the staff for the next departure and your actual drop-off before paying. AnkaraAir stops

For the return journey, the Kızılay boarding point is in front of Gama İş Merkezi, opposite Güvenpark. Its Eski Tren Garı stop is outside Ankara Spor Salonu, Gate F, opposite the old railway station. Those are city-to-airport boarding descriptions: do not assume they identify the airport-to-city drop-off or your train’s departure entrance.

A booking detail worth checking twice

In one Esenboğa booking for an onward journey beyond Ankara, the addresses were correct but the outward and return legs were entered in the wrong order. The support correspondence records the clarified direction for each leg and a note added to the booking. Check both legs separately: pickup, destination, local date and time.

Continuing to a hotel, coach or train

  • Kızılay hotel: compare the mapped walk from the actual stop with the cost of another ride. Save the entrance, not just the neighbourhood name.
  • Coach from AŞTİ: keep the operator, departure time and boarding information available. Airport-bus arrival and intercity-coach boarding are separate parts of the journey.
  • Train from Ankara: check the station and entrance on your rail ticket. Havaş’s current notices say its ESB–Ankara YHT station service was stopped on 30 April 2024; do not build a connection around an old recommendation for that shuttle. Havaş service notices

If the next bus leaves too long a wait, or the final transfer is awkward with bags, compare the airport taxi rank with a pre-booked car. EGO lists airport taxis as available 24 hours a day. Obtain the applicable fare or quote for your exact address, payment method and luggage; a car’s convenience does not establish that it will be cheaper or immune to traffic.

For a booked car, check the meeting point, waiting allowance, flight-delay policy and any child seat before accepting. Our guide to comparing transfer offers explains those checks. GetTransfer publishes this guide and sells transfer booking services.
