FLL Airport Taxi Fares: Port Everglades, Miami or Your Hotel?

FLL to Port Everglades is a different trip from FLL to PortMiami. Before checking a taxi price, find the exact destination on your cruise documents or hotel reservation. A cheap estimate for the nearby Fort Lauderdale port tells you little about a journey to Miami.

Published taxi estimates from FLL

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport publishes the following taxi-cab estimates. Amounts are in US dollars. They are not guaranteed flat fares; the airport warns that rates can vary, including with the current fuel surcharge.

The airport has a separate luxury-sedan column; those prices are not the taxi estimates above. Ask what the total will cover, including applicable fees and any extra charges, and check whether your party and bags fit the vehicle offered.

For a destination absent from the table, obtain a price for that address. Do not treat a South Beach estimate as a fare to every Miami hotel, or an airport-to-port estimate as a round-trip booking.

Taxi ranks and app pickups are different

Follow the airport’s taxi signs to the podium on the lower Arrivals level. For an app ride, follow the current instructions for your terminal in the app and airport signs. FLL’s transport page lists ground-transport-area closures, so an old screenshot can point you to a closed pickup area.

Collect your bags before arranging the final meeting. Share a recognisable meeting point with the assigned driver and check the vehicle identity. Do not assume a taxi queue, rideshare area and chauffeur meeting point are interchangeable.

For a cruise, name the ship and terminal

Port Everglades’ own transport guide also gives US$18–21 as the average taxi fare from FLL, subject to change. The short road journey does not eliminate baggage collection, flight delays or cruise check-in. Work backwards from your cruise line’s embarkation deadline and ask it about a realistic flight-arrival margin.

Keep your cruise documents and identification accessible for the port entrance, following the port’s current visitor instructions. Give the driver the ship name and confirmed terminal, not just “the cruise port”. If your booking is for PortMiami, make that explicit.

Check your package before buying another transfer: your cruise line, travel agent or hotel may already arrange transport. Ask about pickup times, eligibility and the particular port served; the existence of a shuttle is not proof that it matches your flight.

Could a train work instead?

Tri-Rail’s FLL station is at Dania Beach, separate from the airport terminal. The operator describes a complimentary airport–station shuttle for its passengers. Price and plan the shuttle, train and final connection as one journey. A station carrying the airport’s name is not a train platform inside the arrivals hall.

A rail option is worth examining when its stops suit your destination and timetable. For a cruise with several suitcases, compare the transfers between services as carefully as the fare; do not assume the train delivers you to the ship.

Family luggage needs planning too

FLL warns travellers not to rely on airport transport providers to supply child safety seats. Before travelling with children, arrange suitable seats and confirm the actual arrangement with the provider. If you need wheelchair access, describe the wheelchair and assistance required before accepting a vehicle offer.

List suitcases as well as passengers. If the party needs a larger vehicle or two cars, compare that total with the quoted price rather than dividing a standard-car estimate between people it cannot carry.
