You can visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque from Dubai by intercity bus, Etihad Rail or car. Choose transport for the whole day: reaching the Dubai departure point, travelling between cities, getting to the mosque's visitor entrance and returning. For a simple first visit, make the mosque the main stop; add the Corniche only if your return plan leaves enough time.

Pick the intercity leg that fits your starting point

Option Where it goes What to add
E101 bus Ibn Battuta → Abu Dhabi bus station Dubai journey to Ibn Battuta; local ride to the mosque
E100 bus Al Ghubaiba → Abu Dhabi bus station Dubai journey to Al Ghubaiba; local ride to the mosque
Etihad Rail Dubai Station → Abu Dhabi Station Journey to the rail station and onward transport from MBZ City
Car Your agreed Dubai pickup → mosque visitor entrance Visit, any other stops, and the return or waiting arrangement

The RTA route page identifies E100 and E101. Abu Dhabi Mobility lists the Dubai inter-emirate fare at AED 25. Select the exact direction and date in RTA's linked booking service; use the returned timetable for your bus, rather than general network opening hours.

The train is now an option. Etihad Rail launched Dubai passenger services on 30 September 2026. Dubai Station connects by pedestrian bridge to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station. Its Abu Dhabi station is in Mohamed bin Zayed City, a different arrival point from the central bus station.

In the operator's booking search for 25 October 2026, a direct Dubai departure at 07:14 arrived at 08:18 — 1 hour 4 minutes — with Comfort fares from AED 49. A return search showed a 17:43–18:47 service from AED 49, while some departures were sold out. These are dated examples: search both directions for your day and group before arranging the mosque visit. The train time does not include the local journeys at either end.

Budget for the station-to-mosque rides too

For the bus option, using AED 25 in each direction and the mosque's current AED 10 admission category for visitors from outside the UAE:

Known items One adult Four adults
Return intercity bus travel AED 50 AED 200
Mosque admission at that category AED 10 AED 40
Subtotal AED 60 AED 240

Add transport to your Dubai station, both local journeys in Abu Dhabi, payment-card costs where applicable, food and optional experiences. For the train, use your selected outward and return fares instead of AED 50. Ask for the local rides' prices for your actual addresses; they are not included in either intercity ticket.

If paying with a new nol Silver card, its AED 25 purchase price includes AED 19 travel credit. That credit alone is below a 25-dirham intercity single fare, so check the top-up and payment requirements for the ticket you choose.

Go to the visitor entrance, with your visit booked

The mosque directs visitors to Al Salam, Gate 6. Save the map linked on its Getting Here page, and use this entrance when planning the local ride or car drop-off.

The Centre's current visitor FAQ gives ordinary visiting hours of 09:00–20:30 Saturday to Thursday and 09:00–11:30, then 14:30–20:30 on Friday. Friday midday is therefore a poor target for an ordinary visit. Book through the individual visitor form and keep the confirmation on your phone.

The same FAQ lists admission at AED 10 for visitors from outside the UAE, with other categories for Emirates ID holders and tour-operator visitors. Use the current booking category rather than older descriptions of free entry. Dress in long, loose, ankle-length clothing; women also need a headscarf. The Centre offers free guided walk-in tours: ask staff on the mosque's east side where the next one starts.

Build a day with a clear way back

Plan the visit first, lunch afterwards, then decide whether to add a walk on the Corniche waterfront. It is a separate stop, so include transport to it and back to your bus or rail station. Leave time for the visitor entrance and walking inside the mosque, not just the time spent taking photographs.

Save your intended return departure before leaving Dubai. If the visit runs late or the train you want is full, shorten the optional stop and check the Etihad Rail or RTA search for a workable alternative. Confirm the different station if switching between train and bus.

For a car, send your Dubai address, mosque visit time, any Corniche stop and final drop-off. Ask whether the vehicle waits or returns later, and what parking, road charges and extra waiting cost. Our offer-comparison guide helps you compare that complete itinerary with public transport.
