Choose your city stop before buying a ticket. The 100E takes you directly to Kálvin tér and Deák Ferenc tér. The 200E connects the airport with the metro at Kőbánya-Kispest; reaching central Budapest normally involves another vehicle. Both buses run through the night, but that does not mean the metro does. This is our decision method: compare the entire journey from the terminal to your address. A lower bus fare alone does not tell you how many changes or how much walking you will have.
Buy the ticket that matches the bus
A standard 100E airport ticket costs HUF 2,500 per person for one uninterrupted, one-way ride. It does not cover a connecting city service. BKK also sells a HUF 1,000 add-on for holders of eligible Budapest, Pest County or Hungary passes; the 15-day Budapest pass is excluded. Check the eligibility of the exact pass you hold. The 200E uses ordinary tickets or a valid pass. A standard single ticket costs HUF 500 when bought in advance. A bus-to-metro transfer needs another single ticket; the rule allowing transfers between metro lines does not extend to the bus ride. The special 100E ticket is not valid on 200E. A HUF 850 digital 90-minute ticket can cover 200E and a subsequent eligible city service if you make the final transfer within its validity window. Validate when starting and again when changing to another line, following the metro exceptions in the rules. The last ride may finish after the 90 minutes have elapsed. Work out the full fare for your group
Group size changes the comparison. Of GetTransfer bookings from Budapest Airport scheduled between September 2025 and August 2026 and recorded as completed, 39% listed at least three passengers. This describes GetTransfer bookings, not all airport travellers. Compare the total fare for your whole party.
Our calculation below assumes full-fare adults, no existing pass or concession, one-way travel, and no further paid journey after the stated destination. It is arithmetic using the checked BKK prices, not a sampled or booked trip.

Multiply the per-person fare by the number of full-fare passengers. If your hotel requires another bus after 100E, add that fare. If you choose singles for 200E and then another surface service after the metro, count that additional ride too. Do not apply the third row if the final transfer falls outside the ticket window.
For two adults, the first and second rows differ by HUF 3,000. Decide whether keeping that amount is worth the transfer and the walking your particular route requires. A car quote should be compared against the same two passengers, bags, destination and complete one-way price.
Validate before travelling
On 100E, Budapest Pay&GO lets you purchase and validate with a bank card at the on-board device. For a paper airport ticket, follow the boarding staff’s validation process. Save your arrival plan
Write down these five items before leaving the terminal:
- Your destination address and chosen city stop.
- The bus number, its direction and any connecting service.
- The ticket product for each passenger.
- The last connection shown for your travel date.
- A fallback if that connection is no longer available when you are ready to leave.
Check BKK service updates and the journey planner again after a delayed arrival. Use the time you expect to be ready at the bus stop, rather than the scheduled landing time.
