Dusit International Sets a New Benchmark with dusitD2

The dusitD2 Resort: Catering to Business and Leisure Travelers
Dusit International, the well-known Thai hotel and property development firm, has signed a hotel management agreement with the Al Ghadeer Group of Companies to operate the dusitD2 Al Ahsa resort. This addition enhances Dusit’s global portfolio, marking the establishment of an upscale resort located in the Al Ahsa Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the eastern Arabian Peninsula.
The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, the governor of Al Ahsa. Dignitaries included representatives from the Tourism Development Fund, Naif Al Madi, chief business officer, and Sheikh Bassem Al Ghadeer, chairman of the Al Ghadeer Group.
Gilles Cretallaz, chief operating officer of Dusit International, said that this partnership represents their commitment to bringing Thai-inspired hospitality to key destinations, while contributing sustainable value to local communities. This venture aims to create a destination in Al Ahsa that celebrates historical heritage and modern luxury, providing guests with unforgettable experiences in a serene environment.
Distinctive Design in a Unique Locale
Scheduled to open in 2027, dusitD2 Al Ahsa supports Dusit International’s expansion in the Middle East, where they currently manage nine properties. This resort will be the second Dusit brand in Saudi Arabia, following the launch of Dusit Princess Al Majma'ah in Riyadh later this year.
The resort is located 30 minutes from Al Ahsa International Airport and 90 minutes from Dammam, surrounded by palm-fringed landscapes and mountain vistas. It features 120 spacious suites varying from one to three bedrooms, each with a private terrace and plunge pool.
The architectural design, by El Ghoneimi Architects based in Cairo, draws from the beauty of the desert and the surrounding mountains, weaving local cultural elements throughout its structure. Over 2.5 million palm trees thrive in Al Ahsa Oasis, symbolizing the resort’s commitment to a natural aesthetic, reflected in its organic forms and bespoke interiors.
Embracing Thai Hospitality in Arabia
Guests at dusitD2 Al Ahsa can expect a range of amenities. A wellness centre featuring private treatment rooms and meditation areas will beckon visitors seeking rejuvenation. Spaces for yoga and holistic healing are also planned.
For events, the resort will host a 1,500 square meter ballroom, plus an outdoor event lawn ideal for weddings or corporate gatherings. Meeting rooms will cater to business travelers, blending work with leisure.
Dining options range from an all-day dining restaurant to a lobby café serving light gourmet fare. Family-friendly amenities include a large outdoor swimming pool, a kids’ pool, and a children's club.
Located near cultural sites like Al Qarah Mountain and historic Qaisariah Souq, the resort will be a point for both domestic and international travelers eager for experiences in the world’s largest oasis.
Conclusion: A Milestone for Travel in Saudi Arabia
The new dusitD2 Al Ahsa resort will attract visitors seeking luxury and cultural richness, further enhancing the country's appeal. As travel and tourism flourish in Saudi Arabia, incorporating efficient transport solutions becomes essential. Online booking platforms can simplify your travel planning, providing an experience from departure to destination.
Tip: Al Ahsa International Airport is small, so book airport transfers or rental cars well in advance.
