Northeast state administrations now require adventure activity sites to submit a safety assessment, work with local disaster management, and provide a clear emergency response and evacuation plan. Given the region’s history of landslides and communication disruptions, logistics for rescue, equipment, and tourist transport must be pre-planned and regularly tested with weather stations and telecom providers. I wouldn't want to be caught out there without a solid plan.
National Framework and Requirements
The National Strategy for Adventure Tourism and the National Adventure Tourism Safety Management Framework set expectations: safety and service standards, skill development and certification, and routine audits. The Ministry of Tourism’s guidelines—prepared with the Adventure Tour Operators��� Association of India—cover 15 land-based, seven air-based and seven water-based activities and serve as the checklist for states authorising operations.
