Guarulhos Airport: How to Change Terminals at GRU

Changing terminals at São Paulo–Guarulhos (GRU) is an airport journey. The free AeroGRU people mover links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 with the CPTM railway station; its operator currently lists daily operation from 04:00 to midnight. GRU also lists an inter-terminal bus. Start with the next flight, not the nearest exit
Read the airport code, terminal and boarding deadline for your next flight. An itinerary showing CGH (Congonhas) requires a journey to a different airport; the GRU people mover cannot take you there. Check this before following signs for another terminal.
LATAM lists domestic flights at T2 and international flights at T3, but that is guidance for LATAM, not a terminal rule for every airline. At your first check-in, ask whether you must collect and recheck your bags at GRU and whether you already have the onward boarding pass. Tell staff if the flights are on separate bookings. LATAM's connection guidance distinguishes itineraries and specifically requires passengers changing between GRU and CGH to collect and transport their bags. Using the free people mover
If staff direct you to a landside terminal transfer, follow the signs for AeroGRU / Aeromóvel and select the station for the terminal you need. The operator's four-station route also serves Trem CPTM, the railway connection. That station is for the city train; it is not another passenger terminal.
The people mover is free. Its published 04:00–midnight operating window is not a guarantee that every service will be running normally when you arrive. Check the current notice before relying on a late connection, and ask airport staff for the available alternative if the route is interrupted.
Where to find the inter-terminal bus
The airport lists marked shuttle buses stopping on the arrivals level of all three terminals, with a published wait of up to 15 minutes and operation from 04:00 to midnight. The waiting time is separate from the ride and the walk to your onward check-in or gate.

Confirm the bus's destination before boarding. An airport bus stop, a paid coach to São Paulo and a car pickup area serve different journeys; do not queue just because a stop is near your exit. Use the airport's stop information and current signs together.
Allow for the steps after the transfer
Count backwards from the airline's boarding and bag-drop deadlines. Include any required baggage collection, recheck, document checks, security, waiting, the ride and the final walk. We do not give a universal minimum connection time: the terminal ride is only one part of it. If a delay threatens your connection, speak to your airline before choosing a different route.
If you need assistance or cannot comfortably manage the walk with your bags, arrange it with your airline before travelling and confirm where staff will meet you. A free shuttle alone does not resolve the route from your arrival gate to the next departure.
When you are leaving the airport
For an onward flight within GRU, use the appropriate airport connection route.
