Cherie’s arrival in Whistler began three years prior when she moved from Ontario with a school friend, Cathy Jewett. Despite a slow start to the ski season of 1976/77, they secured jobs with Garibaldi Lifts Ltd., gaining experience on the slopes. Cherie’s adventurous spirit was evident as she sought guidance to ski properly, humorously asking lift employees, “Ok, how do you ski?” The advice was straightforward: “Go straight until you fall, get up, and do it again,” a philosophy that not only applied to skiing but also to life itself.

Her rates were economical, with deliveries to Vancouver priced at $15 and a modest $7 to Squamish. Cherie advertised her new business stating, “No job too big or small,” and provided services ranging from bank deposits to grocery runs, even transporting dogs for veterinary visits.

As Whistler Village began its transformation and development, Cherie saw an increase in demand for more professional deliveries—this expanded her role to include transporting blueprints and plans between Vancouver and Whistler. Fast forward to spring 1981, and the courier service had blossomed into two runs, five days a week, prompting her to hire an additional driver, Brian McPherson, and transition into an office space.

Cherie’s journey in the courier business took a new turn when Jeff Wuolle, owner of Twin Peaks property management, expressed interest in acquiring part of her business. As a result, she shifted her focus from courier operations to exploring property management, a field that eventually led her away from Whistler.
