Aegean Airlines Collaborates with Bird Travels for Direct

Aegean Announces New Direct Flights to India

Aegean Airlines, in partnership with Bird Travels, will launch direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Athens in early 2026. This marks Aegean’s entry into the Indian market and supports its international expansion.

New Aircraft for Long-Haul Routes

Aegean is adding two new Airbus A321neo XLR aircraft to its fleet. These planes, known for their long-range capabilities, can fly for up to 10.5 hours, offering flexibility in scheduling and opening potential new long-haul routes.

In-Flight Comfort

The Airbus A321neo XLR model will offer a comfortable cabin for long journeys:

  • 138 seats in business and economy classes
  • 24 Business Class suites with lie-flat beds
  • Satellite Wi-Fi and a next-generation in-flight entertainment system with 4K screens
  • USB and device charging ports
  • Spacious overhead bins

Flight Schedule

Aegean plans to start with five weekly flights from New Delhi in March 2026, followed by three weekly flights from Mumbai in May 2026. These flights will provide direct access to Athens and connections to many European destinations.

The Partnership

Bird Travels is Aegean’s exclusive General Sales Agent in India, handling marketing and customer service. This partnership arrives as international travel expands.

Roland Jaggi, Aegean's Chief Commercial Officer, is excited about working with Bird Travels, citing their expertise in the aviation sector. He believes this venture will improve connections between Greece and India and offer a luxurious travel experience.

The Growing Aviation Scene

The increase in air travel between India and Greece reflects the changing aviation scene. Airlines like Aegean and Bird Travels want to use their combined strengths to meet travelers' demands. This could change tourist flows and affect traditional travel patterns.

Trends in the Indian Market

Airlines like IndiGo are also planning new long-haul routes, creating a competitive environment. Fleet expansion aims to increase the number of international destinations from India, making it easier for travelers to explore new places.

What This Means for Travelers

These direct flights strengthen Aegean's presence in Asia and improve travel options for passengers between major Indian cities and Greece. This partnership improves connectivity and sets the stage for future travel opportunities.

I think the biggest impact will be felt by business travelers, who will save a lot of time with these direct routes.

Here's a tip: when you arrive, pre-book a ride from the airport. It's one less thing to worry about after a long flight.
